Lasang Pinoy Sundays: Silog

Labels: , ,

pink dogsilog

I love this week's theme, silog, shortened combination of the words for Filipino breakfast fare sinangag (fried rice) and itlog (egg). Any type of silog, which I have previously written about here, is a favorite of Filipinos anywhere in the world they may be. It seems that the silogs have expanded to various meats including hot dogs (Filipinos probably are the only people who eat hot dogs with rice), and dried fish such as danggit and squid. Check out Ces's squidilicious Pusitlog and the rest of the silogs at Ces's blog by clicking on the yellow button. Warning: may cause excessive drooling!:D

runny egg yolk, just the way I like it

Anudivya, thanks.

Marvin, you should look for the pink hot dogs at the Filipino grocery. They're juicy and delicious...specially with fried rice.:)

Caninecologne, oh yes, we eat hot dogs with spaghetti too!

Sidney, I dare you to try hot dogs with rice. The pink/red Swift or Mr. Swift dogs are really good.
Mmmm, croissant, now I want some!

Ning, I don't know why but we love the bright colored hot dogs.:)

Ces, I will try to join every week.:)

Raissa, they are, aren't they? I love that they are tender, juicy, and not as salty as Nathan's.
The Mafran/Jufran was on a separate container and forgot to put on the plate before taking the picture.:)

Paula, just like in restaurants, heheh.
It is but very busy. It seems December has sneaked up on me and it's almost Christmas already.:)

Z'riz, I never realized many people like their egg yolks runny. The H and my son can't stand egg yolks that are not fully cooked. I'm glad to be in good company.:)

Mochachocolata Rita, fried rice, hot dogs, and egg, always yummy!:)

I might have Pinoy blood because this is a breakfast I crave? Haven't touched cereal since I was a kid. Hot dog and rice for breakfast sounds GREAT! Can I have some coffee too?

The yolk looks like the world map : )

Hubby asked, why are the hotdogs pink?

I miss our red hotdogs, if only i knew how to make them...hmmmm good idea, I'll look for a recipe ;)

Sidney, its good...really good, you can try grilling the hotdog too! :D

Lori Lynn, you might if you think hot dogs and rice is good!:)

For Who Made The Stars, yeah, it does...the salt made the yolk mottled.:)

G, the pink/red is only skin deep but those are really juicy and yummy. I buy whenever they are available at the Filipino grocery.:)
