New Year's Eve 2008

I have decided to continue making round shaped food for this year's New Year's Eve dinner. It's not because I came into loads of cash last year preparing and eating round shaped food, I just think it's fun to make them, and the 2 rounds of number 8 inspired me. Have a Prosperous 2008 to all!

2008 New Year's Eve menu:
  • Tomato Salad With Vinaigrette Dressing
  • Pork And Chicken Embutido
  • Braised Scallops
  • Deep Fried Adobado Cornish Game Hens
  • Brazilian Cheese Puffed Rolls
  • Kuchinta
  • Fried Mungbean-filled Bilo-Bilo In Coconut Cream Sauce
  • Sliced Queso de Bola and Red Seedless Grapes
  • Ube Kalamay
I'll post the photos and recipes of some of the recipes another day.

Wow, oggi! Can I come over tonight? I hope you take pictures of all the food you are making. Ube Kalamay! I have to see that! Deep fried gamehens!

Also, do you happen to know if "Tambo-Tambo" and "Bilo-Bilo" are similar dishes?

I already updated to include the photos.

I have not heard of Tambo-Tambo before. Bilo-Bilo is not a dish, actually, but I'm not sure if other Philippine regions have a dish called Bilo-Bilo. They are small balls made from a mixture of sweet rice flour and water that are added to guinatan, or larger ones filled with sweet red or mung bean pastes.

Happy New Year! Wow the menu was full of round things. we usually just stick to round fruits but not the entire menu. One staple though is arroz caldo haha - we had 2 versions and I wasnt able to eat either one. Thats so sad.

BTW, I found kaya spread at a local Asian grocery near me. I still have to try it though LOL

Happy New Year Raissa!

2 weeks before Christmas a friend and I were discussing our embutido recipes and from there I looked for more recipes that are round in shape. I'm crazy that way, heheh. Our New Year's Eve dinner usually has more kakanin and desserts than meat dishes.

annmariemarie, I enjoy cooking and of course eating them. The holidays give me an excuse to go crazy with the menu.:)
