Does anybody have a recipe for these peanut kisses from Bohol? My husband got these from the Philippines about 3 years ago and I have been searching for the recipe for a few years now but haven't been able to find one that makes cookies with similar texture. After baking many experimental batches using dozens and dozens of egg whites, I can say I'm not successful at all. They came out too flat or too puffy like the peanut meringue below.
Can you tell I'm obsessed? I eventually gave up when I saw them here and bought 5 boxes. They are so yummy, crunchy, peanuty, and the best thing is, they aren't very sweet. Totally addicting!

i have never seen these types of cookies before either but they really look "masarap". peanuts and merengue are a good combination. hopeyou are able to find the recipe somewhere.

R, thanks. Happy New Year to you and your family! BTW, I love the family photos. The cookies are rather unique and I can't compare with amaretti because they retain their conical shape. We have lots of treats in the Philippines that I haven't seen elsewhere. That's why I love Pinoy food, walang katulad!:)
My sister brought us some of this when they came back from Bohol (we were in Manila). I brought them back here and though they aren't particularly yummy you just get to munch on them like pringles...once you pop you can't stop! :D

Have you tried adding a tablespoon or two of flour? I think it help stabilizes the consistency.

Midge, I tried adding a little flour and the cookies came out flatter than without. I will try one last time with more peanuts.

try brown sugar instead of white...and not too much eggwhites...try roasting your peanuts first...just medium roast. this is amy favorite

I LOVE these... just got my shipment in the mail. I was looking for a recipe when I stumbled here! I wonder if there is a difference because they use cane sugar to make them rather than regular white sugar.

I used cane sugar for these, both white and brown, but they didn't come out as crunchy as the ones from Bohol.
Try lessening ratio of egg whites to peanuts. Peanut consistency should be chopped not fine like powder.
hi, try adding cornstarch instead of flour. flour does hardening for bake foods. Goodluck Oggi.
This is a closely-guarded recipe of the "Bucarez" (Mrs. C. B. A.) clan of Tagbilaran City. Nobody in the whole province of Bohol has even contended or has the guts to compete with it. So we better be contented to our hearts' pleasure munching this one of the unique treasured delicacies of my home province. For us who live abroad and can't buy these treats regularly, we have no choice but to make our own. They were available from the Filipino store for a very short period only. I was given a description of the process, not the recipe, and developed my own recipe. Remarkably, the result is almost as good as the original Peanut Kisses. I decided not to share the recipe though.

I'm not being selfish. I don't want readers from Asian countries to "steal" the guarded recipe and start making and selling them around the globe. It's been happening and I've seen several Filipino snacks copied by Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam...the reason I know they are copied because some of them have Tagalog names on them. There are recipes that I refuse to share to protect Philippine manufacturers from such vultures.
Ahhhh.looking for a recipe myself after getting them as a present from my son and daughter in law who holidayed on boholeave. ..no recipe so I will hide them and eat them slowly. They are yummy...lucky I am Nana so I got a big box....♡
