I love cheesy corn snacks like Cheetos, Chiz Curls, and specially Pirate's Booty which I don't see very often in the grocery stores near my house. They are messy to eat and the cheese coating stick to fingers but I love to lick it anyway. Being a copycat, I bought package of puffed corn, baked them on low heat for 10 minutes until crispy then mixed with melted butter and oil before sprinkling with cheddar cheese powder. I think I prefer these than the store-bought because they are not as salty.
Cheese Corn Puffs
6 cups puffed corn (not pop corn)
¼ cup melted salted butter
2 tablespoons light olive or grapeseed oil
4 - 6 tablespoons cheddar cheese powder
- Place puffed corn in a sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes in a 275° F oven. Let cool completely.
- Transfer into a large bowl. Mix together melted butter and oil and drizzle all over the corn. Quickly mix until corn is evenly coated.
- Mix in the cheese powder. Transfer into an airtight container. Serve with plenty of paper table napkins.
Love pop corn with lots of cheese. ^_^ This one is awesome!
